Pre-requisites
Intermediate Cantonese Level 6 OR able to communicate hold a conversation Cantonese with native speakers and exchange basic political ideas, understand the use of commonly used final particles, able to change the tone/mood of a sentence by using different final particles, give directions including rows and columns, describing appearance and animals, and a basic familiarity of Jyutping.
About this Course
This is a Cantonese conversational class with no set curriculum, but students are introduced to the relevant events happened each week, with light touch of the grammatical instruction from the instructor. This is also for students to express their formed ideas to Cantonese and share with a small group what communicating in Cantonese is about. Students will also get more familiarized with the application of tones and Jyutping, one of the standard Cantonese Romanization systems that is commonly used today. After studying this 8-week course, you will be able to ask and answer hold a more complicated conversation with your families and native friends as well as writing paragraphs to form short stories.
Writing
There will be 15 minutes in each session that is used to study traditional Chinese characters.
