Biography

Edmond Xu is a Taishanese enthusiast based in Toronto, Canada. He leads the Taishanese/Szeyap community on Discord and the Hoisan Sauce YouTube channel. Along with raising awareness about Taishanese language, culture, and history, he also likes stationery, ramen, and tea. In Jan 2021, he helped organize the initial bulk purchasing and distribution of Deng Jun's new book, Taishanese Essentials (台山話概要). His recent projects include the editing of Inspirlang's Learn to Speak Taishanese book, the improvement of the Taishanese Dictionary bot, and the curation of the Hoisan Sauce Taishanese resource list.
