Ethel was born and raised in Guangzhou, a southern city of China. She is a native Cantonese as well as Mandarin speaker. When in college, she was doing part-time job as an English teaching assistant for kids and discovered her passion of being a language teacher. She pursued her Master’s degree of Teaching Foreign Language (Mandarin) and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at NYU. Ethel has years of experience of language tutoring, and she is keen to introduce interesting parts of Cantonese culture to students. Ethel is always passionate of learning a new language or different dialects in China. Recently she’s learning Beijing dialect from her peers and French in a free language classroom at the university.
